Attention Seminary Students! Various internships available at AU Center of Religious Life beginning January 1, 2013.

Women's Ministry: This will involve planning and organizing small group Bible Studies, retreats, discipleship, one-on-one mentoring and service projects for the women on our campus.

Isaiah Local (Services Evangelism, Service Projects, and Outreach): This intern will be responsible for researching, organizing, and facilitating service projects within Ashland County and the state of Ohio. This may include food pantries, homeless shelters, shelters for domestic violence, Servant Evangelism, Prayer Stations, and outreach to Ashland University, the Ashland community, and the state of Ohio.

Sports Ministry: This intern will work with our Fellowship of Christian Athletes to organize Huddle Groups (Bible Studies), prayer groups, game day chapels, etc. for our athletes and those who are influenced by the athletic culture. Attendance at FCA (Tuesday nights at 9:00 PM) and our athletic events (all sports) in strongly encouraged.

Communication, Publicity, and Advertising: With more than 1,000 students involved at the Center of Religious Life, this intern will find creative ways to advertise and publicize our ministries, activities, and events to the greater Ashland University Campus. In addition, this intern will assist in communicating significant events to those students who are already a part of the Center of Religious Life through social media, newsletters, and email. Knowledge of social media, internet web pages, streaming video, and information technology is helpful, but not a must.

Youth Director - Tiffin, OH
Faith United Methodist Church  is searching a Youth Director.  This position is a 10 hour per week ministry position participating in the mission and ministry of Faith United Methodist Church by designing, planning, coordinating, and implementing a youth program that will encourage young people to know God's love and to live out their faith as active participants in the life of the church and society.

Goal:  To cultivate ministries in which youth in grades 6 - 12 are nurtured in their spiritual life and provided with opportunities to live out their faith in missions and service and to develop Christian relationships through fellowship.

Qualifications:
  1. Active member of a Christian congregation.

  • Leading the music during worship service at 10:30 each Sunday from September through May, and a few special occasions. (Summer service is at 9:30 and is optional for this position).

Youth Pastor - Wellington, OH
Wellington First UMC is looking for a part-time Youth Minister (15 hrs/week). We have a dynamic and growing junior high/high school ministry and are now seeking a Youth Pastor who can help us take that ministry to the next level. The Youth Pastor should have a Christ-like love for youth, a passion to share the Gospel and to help youth experience the transforming power of God. We need someone with the experience and ability to help our youth learn to walk in a daily relationship with Jesus.

Pay plan: $1,000/mo. plus $400/mo. housing allowance if residing in Wellington area.

Mission includes:
  • Pray individually and collectively for the youth and all ministries of the church.
  • Conduct regular meetings including games, songs, worship sessions, Bible-based lessons, social gatherings, prayer sessions, breaking bread together, local mission work and the prayer partner program.
  • Develop youth leadership in planning program activities for their group. Encourage the youth to help teach lessons, lead worship, welcome every new visitor, and connect with other youth groups in the area. Encourage and mentor the youth themselves to engage in sharing the Gospel. Encourage older students to mentor the young.
  • Work with "Solid Rock" Youth Ministry advisory board for support and guidance in planned activities, program emphases, and settings for youth ministry in the Wellington First United Methodist Church.
  • Be a positive role model for a Christ-centered life. This should include engaging in active prayer life for kids, the church and also consistently attending to his or her spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional health and growth.
  • Attend Wellington First UMC worship regularly and encourage youth church attendance.
  • Invite and equip volunteers into the youth ministry for the spiritual growth of youth and the volunteers.
  • Serve as a member of Youth Ministry Advisory Board, Youth Council, and Wellington First United Methodist Education Committee.

Job Description:
  • Ministry to Youth:

    • To identify and develop leadership in youth.
    • To plan and implement a yearly mission trip.
    • To be available for counseling and visitation.
    • To support youth in their school environment.
    • To coordinate transitions between elementary and middle school.
  • Ministry to Parents:
    • To be available to parents to discuss issues related to their child or general issues of youth.
    • To communicate with parents in whatever way the parents are comfortable (social media, email, phone calls, etc).
  • Ministry to Church:
    • To enlist a mix of men and women youth workers.
    • To lead regular leadership meetings with youth workers.
    • To integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational.
  • Additional Duties:
    • In conjunction with the youth committee prepare and submit a yearly budget for youth ministry.
    • Develop and submit the annual Youth Ministry report.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the pastor.
